"North Korea has made a choice" to violate U.N. Security Council resolutions, ignore international warnings and abrogate commitments made during six-nation nuclear disarmament talks, Clinton said.

"There are consequences to such actions," she said, referring to discussions in the United Nations meant to punish North Korea for its nuclear and missile tests.

"The White House says North Korea's threats against South Korea will not give it the attention Pyongyang wants and will only add to its isolation.

 

       The U.S. Military is near and dear to my heart, as close as the love of this Nation is. Both are interwoven and inseparable, one can not survive without the other. For most of my blog postings, I put various obvious, acute, unheard of, observations, my thoughts and rebuttals, some spackled with humor or drama in the form of video or photos. With this one, number 900 on BirdsEyeView at Townhall - dot – com, I wanted to do something a little different and a bit more self absorbed. Instead of an observation, complaint, whine, moan, bellyache about how Obama and the Democrats are putting this Nation straight into the crapper, I’m going to give a plausible, workable, suggestion. 

          Should this Nation survive intact after the DNC controlled Congress and Presidency have been voted out, this Nation needs to identify exactly what it wants out of it’s military.   After the Cold War ended…that thing President Reagan (R) was able to accomplish, one of the main concerns voiced by both parties and the Military establishment, was that the U.S. was not going to become the World’s Policeman. 

     Well, guess what….we are the World’s Policeman. The Gulf War proved that point, and the Balkan’s and Somalia cemented that ideal. The Afghanistan War and the Iraq War even pushed us further into the role of World’s policeman. No other Nation had the military might to go confront Al Qaeda and the Taliban in their home yard as did the United States. Plus keep the Korea’s from fighting, and keep a presence in the Balkan’s, the Sinai, and rotate troops, planes, ships all over the World. 

     That role of World’s policeman is coming to an end. It must be recognized and admitted. Not that we’re declining militarily…but more so..economically and politically. 

     With the People’s Republic of China rising, Russia reasserting itself, Iran, Venezuela, Brazil all building militaries far disproportional to their realistic defensive needs, the U.S. role in ‘keeping the peace’ is over. The U.S. has to get serious about it’s own military defensive and offensive capabilities. What is the huge thorn, the major bane to the protection of the United States and it’s citizens, are the politicians in Washington D.C.

     While they all take an oath to protect the Constitution of the United States, they’re just words to most of them. I honestly do not believe that they believe in those words of their oath, nor would they lay down their lives to protect our Constitution. There is very little honor and integrity in the politicians in Washington D.C. anymore for ‘The People’ to honestly see, hear, and believe in. 

     Having said that…..for our military to go forward and become a true ‘military’, then several things much change. One of the biggest obstacles, is the separation of ‘military’ from ‘World’s policeman’. 

     A policeman protects and serves his/her community. They do so by following and enforcing the laws. They do so with by using the least force necessary to accomplish their job. Police operate under a severe set of rules governing everything they do in the performance of their job in order to ‘protect and serve’. 

    A soldier, defends his/her Nation and it’s People. They do so by stopping anyone who plans and executes harm towards this Nation/People.  How it’s accomplished has become so blurred in gray, that our soldiers are nothing more than glorified policemen, following a huge set of bureaucratic rules and regulations that their own lives are often put in jeopardy unnecessarily. 

    One of the lesson’s out of the Iraq War, is that the United States does not have the manpower necessary to go to full out war. With regular Army and Marine units stripped bare to find infantrymen, with the Air Force and Navy personnel who lost their ‘jobs’ due to downsizing given a choice to join the Army and become infantry. With National Guard units called up repeatedly to fill massive voids. With the huge explosion of private security companies.   All of these are huge markers, huge indicators, that the U.S. Military is severely strained and that planners and politicians all, failed to project and see this coming. 

     B.E.V has done a few entries already on the ‘stretched too thin’ military, showing Air Force personnel manning APC’s duing the opening phases of the Iraq War, where it should have been Soldiers doing these jobs. 

      The Army has several units of ‘armored’ billeted personnel dismounted and doing infantry work. That is something a military does only during ‘defeat’, as Germany did with it’s Air Force and Navy in World War Two by making them ‘infantry’. 

     So what do we do?   First we must separate a soldier from a warrior.

Is there a difference between a warrior and a soldier? That’s a debatable concept that a good forum could tackle, one that better minds than mine might be able to give good argument to. 

 Going through about ten online definitions for both, these are the basic definitions I found for each:

Warrior:

noun (especially in former times) a brave or experienced soldier or fighter.

a person who is in an army and wears its uniform, especially someone who fights when there is a war:

 Here are the B.E.V.’s attempt to define them:

Warrior: a person dedicated to and skilled in the arts of warfare, and whose lifestyle is existence upon warfare.

Soldier: a person skilled in military disciplines, whose tenure may be either voluntary or conscripted. Who wears a uniform or distinctive clothing identifying allegiance of servitude. 

     In building a true ‘military’, our Nation must accept that ‘warriors’ are a different breed of people. Many good personnel left the ‘service’ during these current wars and went to work for private security companies like Blackwater and DynCorp, not because they wanted just more pay, but because they were allowed to be ‘warriors’.   Today’s military is way too constrained in it’s approached to warfare because of our politicians and liberal left lawyers. Many good ‘soldiers’ desired to continue to serve, but were hampered and angered by the huge amount of restrictive rules used on a battlefield. 

    The only rule on a battlefield is the rule to survive. Everything else is mute. Bombs and bullets do not answer to nor care about the Geneva Convention, the UCMJ, or the mountains of lawsuits put forth by the ACLU. The enemies of the United States neither do they care about the above mentioned. Their goal is rule one, survive. 

    To build a better military, the system much change. No one wants an army of wanton killers on the field to represent the U.S. No true American is in their heart or mind, desiring to be that kind of person. We would build Terminator robots and unleashed them if that were the case (something DARPA may need to look at though). 

    What must change is the restrictive nature that governs our soldiers on the battlefields, not only must they be allowed to be soldiers in the service of their Nation, but they must be allowed to be warriors in every sense/meaning of the word.

     Conscription does not work in order to maintain a good military, unless it’s in time of a truly National emergency and situation such as World War Two. Forced servitude only begets marginal performers in times of peace, sometimes it also builds a monster in the form of ‘secret police’ and political ‘para-military’ forces. 

    Many good people want to, they desire to serve their Nation, but are often left out because of physical disabilities that are of no consequence in the civilian work force. Also, good people are left out because of their sexual preference. While the later is highly contentious still, some day, even that barrier will fall. 

     As long as I brought it up, let’s get this argument out of the way. Don’t ask, don’t tell works. Think about it, it does. In the military, the performance of what a military is supposed to do….sex does not matter, and it should not. Not to the Nation, not to the individual. What matters in the military is stopping the enemy from harming the United States and it’s People. If a person cares more about having sex, then the military is not for that person, that’s how serious the performance and execution of duties of the military has to be.  

     If a person is more concerned about having sex, then a military career is something that a person should seriously consider before joining. What a person does off duty, I personally, don’t care. Just that when a person is on a base, in uniform, it’s all about their duty, not about having sex. A warrior would understand this concept.

     Separating the soldier from the warrior.   That’s difficult since the two are so close in defining. But to build a true military, this Nation must move forward and do just that. As I said, many good people want to serve. Maybe they are unable to run three miles, do twenty push ups, and run three more. Maybe they can run/walk one mile and do three push ups. A person must be able to perform minimal physical task without assistance, for the simple reason, lives depend upon it. 

    The National Guard for many people has come to be a place to serve yet stay home. Unfortunately, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have changed the dynamics of what the ‘Guard’ used to be. In moving forward, this is one place where we must step back and build a solid National Guard that is more fit to serve the States in which they live. 

    The ‘military’ Reserves should be the ones plugging all the gaps that the Guard has had to do. If planners and politicians would have done their jobs properly, maybe this would already have been the case. 

    This Nation needs a strong and viable National Guard. They don’t need to ‘warriors’, they can be ‘soldiers’ and still serve their Nation and ‘The People’. Between hurricane Katrina and the fires, floods, and tornadoes that have wreaked havoc the past five years, the need for a viable National Guard is more than evident.

     Just as the two wars, ‘war on terror’, have indicated and proven that the United States needs a very strong and viable military. President Obama wants to build a large ‘job corps’, but that is going in the very wrong direction. Those ‘jobs’ are something city mayors need to do for their own people. Youth volunteer/civic groups are something that should remain locally controlled and over watched by a State’s Governor.

     Another aspect I want to throw into here about ‘service’, is ‘age’. As with physical and sexual preference limitations to serve, age is also a factor that saps our military of good people. The use of private security companies has cost the United States a lot of money and a lot of political headaches. This is where the ‘Gray Eagles’ Brigade would come in and fit nicely.

    The Gray Eagles are guys like me. We’re middle age, we’ve served our 30 years, but we’re in just as good physical condition as the average sailor, soldier, airman. If you ever run a 5K, 10K, and see some gray haired old guy buzz by you like you’re standing still, you might understand. The desire to serve this Nation does not end when the paper work shuffle tells us it’s over. This Nation has a huge pool of untapped resource in ‘Gray Eagles’, men and women, still viable and willing to serve, maybe just one tour, but we are out here. Professional military personnel, limited only by ‘age’ discrimination and a ‘30’ year rule. 

    Building a Gray Eagles Brigade would be ‘different’. It would almost be an unconventional force since the DoD could not bring back a bunch of retired E6 to O10’s and put them back at the same rank/pay. A new ‘set’ of ranking would have to be set up, except for a very few who could be brought back at their previous ‘rank’ if they were recently released from active service. The Army would be the place to build a GEB, and previous service, i.e. USN, USAF, would not matter.   This unit would be totally encapsulated unto itself, sending company sized units out as needed to augment Army and Marine units in operational and support areas to provide that pro-active security and patrolling, freeing up combat units to continue forward operations.

     With the growing unabated external threats, seen and unseen, our own military is what must be prioritized by our Nation’s politicians, and from The People themselves.

 

    I took a few days off from work, one, as a personal celebration of my b-day, and two, I needed some down time from the job.  I wanted to as well, do only two more postings and make it to 900, but as with all plans….once the execution order is given….everything goes to snafu.  

    898 was supposed to be about the military, I’m making a battle field adjustment and using 898 to point of a few observations from on top of the tallest tree.  B.E.V. is watching. 

    Today, we heard two points of view concerning GITMO and the terrorist detained there.  I read this and if it wasn’t for the chair under by arse….

President Barack Obama declared defiantly Thursday that the U.S. "went off course" in fighting terrorism over the past eight years, and said his policies will "better protect" the country against al Qaeda.

    I watched Operation Valkyrie yesterday, and I couldn’t help but to think that this is the direction this Nation is taking.  All the same ingredients are there. Both Nations have a leader who was really not ‘born’ in the Nation they preside over.  The ruling ‘party’ has usurped the ‘Constitution’ at every junction to ensure their dominance.  The ‘media’ is controlled by the ruling ‘party’. Neighborhood ‘organizations’ are being set up to watch over everyone…pitting neighbors against neighbors.  Both Nations have a ruling party that believes that the ‘State’ has the right ideas not The People.  The ‘State’ has taken control of the banks and largest corporations.  The military, and National law enforcement agencies, being dutiful to ‘Nation’ will only blindly follow orders unto the destruction of the Nation. 

     Today, the entire DNC Congress backed Nancy Pelosi over the CIA.  If that is not telling of the coming future…..you must be totally blind and stupid. The Obama Campaign said little of Law Enforcement. Now, that they are in ‘power’…..law enforcement has taken a back seat. Now, that they are in ‘power’……this Nation has come more divided than since 1859.  Now, that they are in ‘power’…… the World knows ‘they’ in ‘power’ are a joke and can be easily duped and manipulated and are being ‘punk’d’ daily.  Iran did it ..again…with their latest ballistic missile test yesterday.

    Back to ‘law enforcement’….New York City not only has some of the highest and insane taxes in the USA….New York City, is now becoming a crime mecca.

Downtown Manhattan, the city's party mecca, has been hit by an alarming spike in vicious street violence.

Assaults in Greenwich Village lead the frightening upturn, with a whopping 43 percent increase so far this year compared with the same period in 2008.

"I've never seen it like this before -- never, ever," said G. Simon Chafik, a female photographer who has lived in Manhattan for 15 years.

"I'm a big New Yorker. New York is one of the safest cities. [But] I'm beginning to question that."

Other hot Manhattan neighborhoods tainted by the crime wave include TriBeCa, with a nearly 17 percent jump, and Gramercy, which has seen a 24 percent increase in assaults.

The danger zones also include the East Village from East 14th Street to Houston Street and the East River to Broadway, which has seen a 27.7 percent rise, from 47 to 60 assaults.

The Lower East Side has experienced a whopping 30 percent hike in assaults.

One area appearing to buck the trend is Chelsea, which has recorded a 17 percent drop in such attacks.

Deputy Police Commissioner Paul Browne attributed the crime jump largely to the neighborhoods' huge restaurant and bar scenes, which attract large numbers of late-night revelers.

He said the NYPD was addressing the issue with beefed-up police presence and additional undercover officers.

Residents say the recent violence in the popular West Village is particularly frightening because it had been so rare.

"I feel anxious -- there are muggings on my block," said writer Warren Ransom, 50.

The victims even include cops. One case involved a vicious anti-gay attack on an off-duty NYPD officer.

An eight-year veteran police officer needed six stitches to close a head wound after Andrew Klein, 31, allegedly accosted him while the cop was walking with a woman on West 14th Street near Sixth Avenue at 5:30 a.m. Friday.

The victim identified himself as a cop, and Klein retorted, "I don't give a f- - -," according to court documents.

A day earlier, a man from Buffalo was brutally beaten and left unconscious at a Greenwich Village intersection by four young thugs, one of whom proudly declared, "I hit him good."

Klein's lawyer, Daniel Kron, told The Post that his client was merely involved in a fight and did not know the other man was a cop.

    Anyone seen ‘The Mayor’?  The ‘Governor’?  of NYC and NY State respectively?  Democrats in charge and this is what happens to a great city and State.  And it’s now happening to our Nation. 

     Just reading all of the headlines gives me a headache.  Obama blames Bush for all of the problems he is unable to handle, which seems to be everything.  Obama is a great example of ‘be careful for what you wish for’.   The current ‘power’ structure as well is an example too……’the DNC is in charge…they ‘own’ it all.  The DNC has had control of Congress since 2006, and now they have the Presidency too.  So….why really is the United States sinking daily into an abyss?!

     Have you noticed this ongoing slip and slide of grown up decorum at the White House and D.C. in general?  Having an American Idol President has truely affected many.  It began with the President dressing down in the White House.  When he took off the coat and tie, everyone else started sagging their pants.  Why take Obama seriously?  He doesn't take his job seriously.  He doesn't take the position God and Man has put him into seriously.  Kind of like what Bill Clinton did just using the White House as a staging event for his popularity, not to mention you know who..cigar...yeah.  
     This event that happened at the White House yesterday is a primo example of how decorum has been affected:

Cell Phones Interrupt Already Contentious White House Briefing

The White House press briefing this afternoon has been contentious, with some major give-and-take between CNN's Ed Henry, ABC's Jake Tapper and other correspondents as they pressed press secretary Robert Gibbs over the decision today by Pres. Obama not to release detainee abuse photos.

All three cablers were taking it live when the tension was lifted briefly by a series of cell phone rings, first from John Gizzi of Human Events. "Just put it on vibrate, man, we did this before," said Gibbs. When it rang again, Gibbs stepped off the podium, demanded the phone, and tossed to an aide in the back room. When Gibbs began to answer the question, CBS' Bill Plante's phone rang. But Plante ignored Gibbs' request to hand it over. Instead, Plante, a 28-year White House veteran, left the room to laughter. About five minutes later Plante returned to his front-row seat.

     The so-callled grown up adults of the White House, the so-called grown-up adults of the White House Press Corps, just perfectly displayed 'cause and effect'.   They displayed as well, how little they think of themselves, their positions, and this Nation.  Their actions are nothing more than that of punk street kids.  No wonder this Nation is taking such a fast nose dive as a 'United' States.  The so called grown ups are hardly examples to be followed.

 

With each passing day, Freedom and Liberty, die a little more with the assistance of the very person charged for their protection. Analogy strikes me again via the motion picture industry in the ‘Star Wars’ storyline of a ‘Senator’ that deceives everyone and manipulates his way into the role of Emperor, all seemingly for the ‘good’ of all races.

    Our Senator-com-Praetor has now issued a new ‘edict’ over a once free and capitalist Nation: 

DETROIT (AdAge.com)—Chrysler wanted to spend $134 million in advertising over the nine weeks it’s expected to be in bankruptcy—the U.S. Treasury’s auto-industry task force gave it half that.

   In keeping with his double speak:

1.) Remember back in February the even newer president was all agitated over luxury bank excursions and he said: "You can't get corporate jets, you can't go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayer's dime."

 

2.) Harry Reid's no slouch in the fundraising department, with $3.3 million already on hand for next year's reelection campaign, which has thus far drawn lots of press too.

And no viable opponent from the state's battered Republican Party.

Still, in politics these days you can never have too much money, as someone showed last fall by raising $750 million, which is even more than those outrageous AIG bonuses. Now Happy Harry's bringing in Bette. And Sheryl. And some guy named Barack.

All in the name of Money.

And what better way for a new Democratic administration to symbolize cutting out excess in a time of hardship for millions of Americans than to hold a mega-fundraiser in Las Vegas….

    More double speak and building his personal ‘army’:

President Obama's call last year for "shared sacrifice" doesn't extend to federal employees, at least based on the details of his administration's 2010 budget released this week.

At a time when the official unemployment rate is nearing double digits, and 6.35 million people are receiving unemployment benefits, the U.S. government is on a hiring binge.

Executive branch employment — 1.98 million in 2009, excluding the Postal Service and the Defense Department — is set to increase by 15.6 percent for the 2010 fiscal year. Most of that is thanks to the Census Bureau hiring 102,000 temporary workers, but not counting them still yields a net increase of 2 percent in one year.

There's little belt-tightening in evidence in Washington, D.C.: Counting benefits, the average pay per federal worker will leap from $72,800 in 2008 to $75,419 next year.

Meanwhile, according to Forbes' layoff tracker, there have been 558,087 layoffs since November 2008 at large public companies; even local school districts aren't immune. That's just a sliver of the total unemployed, which government data estimate to be 8.6 percent of the workforce, or an alternate method of reckoning that counts discouraged workers puts at 20 percent.

   A year ago….under George W. Bush…would you ever imagine this would happen??

General Motors is open to considering moving its headquarters from Detroit, selling off U.S. plants……..

   But now, under Barack Obama…..what was once the backbone of American Industrial might…is crumbling to the ground.   Literally it is under Barack Obama since he and his Administration has maneuvered their way into ‘control’ of these once privately owned companies.

President Obama is distancing himself from the National Day of Prayer by nixing a formal early morning service and not attending a large Catholic prayer breakfast the next morning.

All Mr. Obama will do for the National Day of Prayer, which is Thursday, is sign a proclamation honoring the day, which originated in 1952 when Congress set aside the first Thursday in May for the observance.

WASHINGTON - Sen. Frank Lautenberg said Tuesday the military has taken a timid approach to fighting piracy and should more aggressively protect U.S. cargo ships instead of responding after an attack.

Lautenberg, who chairs a Senate commerce subcommittee with jurisdiction over the maritime industry, likened the military's approach to the reactive response of alarm companies. He noted at a hearing on how to best protect U.S. ships that many merchant ships under siege by pirates off the waters of Somalia are delivering humanitarian supplies.

Things were little better for Mr Brown when he went to the school. First he was met by a group of parents protesting about plans to merge it with a nearby primary. One leapt in front of his motorcade and was bundled away.
