NEW YORK — A gauge of the U.S. service sector returned to growth last month, aided by the holiday season's retail sales. The expansion reflected a slowly improving economy — but it was too slight to generate much hiring.
The Institute for Supply Management, a private trade group, said Wednesday its service index rose to 50.1 in December from 48.7 in November. A level above 50 signals growth. Seven industries out of 18 reported growth, led by agriculture and retail.
The ISM's employment gauge, which hasn't grown in two years, shrank again in December, though at a slower pace than in November. It reached 44 in December, compared with 41.6 a month earlier.
Job generation throughout the economy has been weak even as layoffs have slowed. Economists expect the Labor Department to report Friday that the unemployment rate ticked up to 10.1 percent in December from 10 percent in November and that the economy lost a net total of 8,000 jobs.
The ISM said the four service-sector groups that added jobs in December were retail, finance and insurance, public administration and a category of other services. Retailers added temporary workers, as they normally do for holiday shopping seasons.
Now I"m going to break something down for you dear reader, a hard truth. One that people do not like to discuss. While all of the other Nations are moving forward in heavy industry, manufacturing, the USA is building more 'jobs' that are 'service sector'.....we do not build..we only serve. At the end of the day, meaningless jobs that can be easily replaced, eliminated, or reduced. They do not produce anything at the end of the day that a human being needs to survive....food, clothing, shelter.
I've tried sugar coating my thoughts about the U.S. University-College system, I have come out a few times with more blatant feelings, observations, thoughts , but at this point, it's cold hard truth time. Our upper level educational system.."college"....is nothing more than a baby sitting institution. The graduates 'produce' nothing, except money for the colleges to grow larger upon. Sports takes precedence at most universities, just to 'attract' more students which means more 'money'. But the final result is what....'nothing'. With all of our Nation's colleges and universities producing hundreds of thousands of graduates yearly....you would think that we would have so many highly educated people....we should not have any problems at all. None. Our Nation's infrastructure is collapsing, our economy is collapsing, we have high crime, slums, STD's, ....problems that a highly educated people should have solved by now.....if 'colleges' were really worth what they should be. Today on Rush Limbaugh's show, Mark Stein said much of what I am saying now about our educational system...colleges are teaching levels of education that should have been learned in junior high/high school....at 'college'. WHY? Because it's part of the trend that is making this Nation a Third World Nation.
More harder truth. Your son.....is going not going to have a long life, he will be working menial jobs for the rich of other Nations, have a 50/50 chance of ending up in a criminal element and will die either by a violent crime related event or disease from poor health. Universal health care, Obama care, for all people in the USA, is a pipe dream meant only to sway voters...that's it. It will never happen, bank on it.
Your daughter, your precious little girl.....she's going to be a 'ho for the rich of other Nations.....why? You got to be kidding me right? Your that naive? You don't know because you don't get into the mud, muck, and back ally's and see what is happening out there...at 'colleges' do you. I pity you. You think your little girl is going to marry, have a nice home, family, maybe successful job. Sorry, but at our present rate.....she will be lucky if she becomes a high priced hooker v. a street hooker with a very short life expectancy.
Okay don't believe me do you. The United States has a 'service sector growth'....and what else is a huge industry in the USA.?

It's one of the hottest industries in America. Easier to order at home than a pizza, bigger than rock music, it's arguably the most profitable enterprise in cyberspace. AT&T has been in the business. Yahoo! has profited from it. Westin and Marriott have made more money selling it than selling snacks and drinks in their mini-bars. And with estimates as high as $10 billion a year, it boasts the kind of earnings that most American businesses would envy.
It's pornography. And with adult movies, magazines, retail stores, and the growth of the Internet, business is booming.
