Tonight, after months of conferences with top advisors, President Obama has settled on a new strategy for Afghanistan.
CBS News correspondent David Martin reports that the president will send a lot more troops and plans to keep a large force there, long term.
The president still has more meetings scheduled on Afghanistan, but informed sources tell
CBS News he intends to give Gen. Stanley McChrystal most, if not all, the additional troops he is asking for.
McChrystal wanted 40,000 and the president has tentatively decided to send four combat brigades plus thousands more support troops. A senior officer says "that's close to what [McChrystal] asked for." All the president's military advisers have recommended sending more troops.
But they also have warned that troops alone will not win the war unless Afghan President Hamid Karzai cleans up his government.
Now dear reader, let's start putting things into perspective. Obama has been putting off his decisions regarding Afghanistan and the troop increase for months. It was even released from the White House that Obama, was going to wait until after his trip to Japan to begin making decisions. This was very well known to everyone.
What Obama did not count on was a Muslim terrorist inside the U.S. Army, would commit a terrorist murderous act inside the United States on his and Janet Napolitano's watch. Much less within the last months of 2009. So now, Obama has to try and show 'concern' to primarily the U.S. Army, which he clearly did not do with his initial addressing of the murderous incident at Ft. Hood.
So now, with some late quick last minute meetings of the Obama Administration, his public relations answer is to announce he's giving Gen. McCrystal everything and then some he asked for, hoping to mollify the U.S. Army and U.S. Armed Forces.

President Hugo Chavez on Sunday ordered Venezuela's military to prepare for a possible armed conflict with Colombia, saying his country's soldiers should be ready if the United States attempts to provoke a war between the South American neighbors.
B.E.V. has already outlined Chavez's intentions and plans, so this is coming as no surprise. Nor will the lack of U.S. Military response once Chavez attacks and invades Columbia, because that is how Obama will respond. He will not attack a fellow socialist brother. Mark my words!!!! He (Obama) will allow Columbia to be taken over and controlled by Chavez and Socialist forces.

Barack Obama has now, very quickly made another hasty decision, but also, another decision that is working well within the "Rules for Radicals" outline. This opportunity, which is 'not to wasted', is allowing Obama to send more American troops over seas for long periods of time. This will affect our National Defense doctrine's. So, how does Obama compensate for this.......??!!
