From NY Times:
Sotomayor Sworn In as Supreme Court Justice
WASHINGTON — Justice
Sonia Sotomayor took the judicial oath on Saturday, becoming the first Hispanic and third woman to serve on the
Supreme Court in United States history.
....Finally, from the 'shivers running down our legs' totally in-the-pocket of the White House NBC/MSNBC:
Sotomayor sworn in as Supreme Court justice
Saturday’s ceremonies make judge the first Hispanic justice
Now, when Judge Sotomayor makes a ruling/decision and has to write her decision, it must start with: "As the first Hispanic...." since that seems to have been the major criteria and deciding factor to nominate her to the highest law office in the United States. I don't know about you dear reader....but I will always have in the back of my mind.....will Judge Sotomayor's decisions be based on being 'Hispanic' first...American second.
Now saying that....B.E.V. does recognize and give credit where credit is due. Judge Sotomayor reached the level of being a Judge, by her own determination and grit, that deserves respect. It's the decisions and speeches since being a Judge that has raised several flags of concern towards equality for all without bias. That is what will be watched from a BirdsEyeView.
